Woo! Flashback! I do love me some flashbacks, and it stands to reason I would use them in this series as well. We’re getting a great little view of Springview Texas here, and it looks pretty normal on the surface huh? Springview, at least in name and look, was patterned after my home town of Plainview, Texas. We always heard that Plainview was named by the first people who settled there primarily because they had a plain view in 360 degrees. Seriously, the only trees that grow there are the ones you plant and water a lot. It’s great for farming, and raising cows, and beyond that it’s pretty boring. In the series at least, the Northwest plains of Texas are interesting for a number of reasons, and the fictional Springview is no exception. As we’ll soon find out, there’s a lot to a town’s name.
I had to laugh when I first got this page back. The clock on top of the court house immediately evokes Back to the Future, and while I’m not sure Harold has ever encountered a Dairy Queen in his life, he certainly got the look of the soft serve ice cream cone down!
